Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a government benefit that helps people with long-term health conditions or disabilities with the extra costs of daily living and mobility. It is not means-tested, so your income or savings usually do not affect your eligibility.
You may qualify if you:

● Have a long-term illness, disability, or mental health condition
● Have difficulties with daily living activities or mobility
● Have had these difficulties for at least 3 months and expect them to continue
Processing times can vary, but many PIP claims are decided within a few weeks to a few months, depending on assessments and supporting information required by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Successful claims can receive around £100 per week on average, depending on the level of support awarded.
If your claim is successful, payments usually start from the date your claim began. Because claims can take several weeks or months to process, you may receive a backdated lump sum of around £2,000 or more, depending on how long the decision took.
